She was raised with an older brother named Michael, who also was an actor. Anna Kendrick began auditioning for Broadway shows when she was a teen at Deering High School in Portland. When she turned 12, her first role in theater was in the High Society. As a child her performance was sufficient to earn her various awards and nominations. She was in A Little Night Music in 2003. At age 15 she made her film debut in Camp that year. Kendrick received more nominations and awards for her role in Rocket Science and later in the film.
